Sugars

Sugars are something that we all consume and it is hard to get away from as there are both natural sugars found in foods and sugar that we add to our diets.

I have looked into this and many people have too much sugar in their diets including me. There can be many health problems linked to consuming too much sugar. Leaving sugar out of your diet helps you stay lean and prevents a variety of health problems including cancer, hypertension and increased weight not forgetting diabetes.

I read and use the information on Charles Poliquin’s website and he advises that sugar should be treated as a delicacy and consumed in small quantities once a week.

Sugar is made up with a half and half split of Glucose and Fructose. Glucose is turned into glycogen which is then stored in the body as energy but if too much sugar is consumed this energy is turned into fat which has no benefit to the body. Sugar is also linked to overeating, poor memory, learning disorders and depression according to recent research.

Processed meals contain large unhealthy quantities of sugar which is used as an additive and have negative effects on your health. Processed meals are also an increasing source of food for families.

Excessive sugar leads to weight gain but loose stools are a sign of too much sugar in your diet. A solid stool indicates many things but a solid stool shows signs of good sugar levels.

I have reduced the amount of sugar in my diet and work to the rule of having a maximum of 20g per meal, and that is an absolute maximum. Limiting the amount of sugar goes towards warding off long term health problems but also allows me to stay lean and ensures I use sugar I do intake to its best potential in the form of energy.

  1. By avoiding too much sugar do you end up consuming artificial sweeteners like Aspartame and Acesulfame k which are very damaging to the human body or are you careful to avoid these things too?
