Beetroot Juice

I take great pride in what I include in my diet like many other professional football players and athletes but there are number of super foods that I eat and drink that have specific health benefits. One of these foods is Beetroot juice; this is an increasing drink that is being used by professional sports people.

Beetroot juice is full of essential nutrients, including folate, potassium and vitamin C amongst others. I drink Beetroot juice mainly before games and at half time because it is great for improving stamina. Stamina and endurance is an important element of football, playing at high tempo with high levels of concentration for 90 minutes. Exercise uses oxygen that is stored in the blood, with exercise increasing the usage of the amount stored in the body. The juice is found to reduce the amount that is used, therefore increasing the amount of time you can exercise for resulting in improved performances.

The sugars and carbohydrates that are found in the juice act as fuel for the body. The calories are easily accessible which are required for quick release of energy, so it is ideal for me to drink Beetroot juice before and during games and training.
As well as being full of vitamins and minerals, anti oxidants and amino acids can be found in the juice. Amino acids help to build proteins which are then used by the body. Anti oxidants have a number of advantages but the main one is that it helps to keep the body and mind in a general good state of health.
